Amazing Grace
In 2007 I had the opportunity to take an ocean voyage to New Zealand and Australia. As we crossed the Tasman Sea we encountered a storm, with winds over 80 miles per hour and the cruise ship rose and fell with the mighty waves. It was a terrifying experience. After a day and half the seas calmed and the clouds parted. The sunset played out a brilliant colorful display. The bright flash of the setting sun was like a message from God, beckoning to a safe harbor.
This theme has played out in my paintings from that time until now; seascapes, interpretations of the lights on the Danube at midnight and then closer to Heaven, the universe. The stormy sea, the quiet beauty of the full moon offering peace and the angels’ view of the ocean form in deep spiritual expression.
